About Build a Hooper

Build a Hooper is a free, fan-made basketball player builder and season simulator. It was built for people who love all-time roster debates, fantasy drafts, and “what if” season simulations.

How it works

Every run starts with a spin. The draft wheel lands on one of 30 historic NBA teams, and you pick one legend from that team. Then you steal exactly one of that player's 13 skills — shooting, defense, athleticism, clutch, and more. After 13 rounds, your custom player is complete. We run an 82-game simulation, generate stats, assign a player tag, and give you a shareable result card.

Independent fan project

Build a Hooper is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the NBA, NBA 2K, Take-Two Interactive, or any professional basketball league. Player names, team names, and related marks are trademarks of their respective owners.

Content and data

Player ratings and team rosters are compiled from publicly available statistics and are used to create a transformative, fictional player-building experience. All simulation outcomes, build recommendations, and strategy content on this site are original commentary and analysis created for basketball fans.
